Start Smiling Again With Sedation Dentistry

If you live in the Mobile, AL area, we want you to know that there is a dentist’s office in town that is sensitive to your needs and equipped with the sedation dentistry tools to help you relax your fears: Alabama Family Dental.

Look, dental anxiety is a very real condition that impacts millions of Americans. It is nothing to take lightly and certainly nothing to be ashamed about. Fearing the unknown, remembering bad experiences from the past, and just feeling uneasy in a medical facility can all contribute to the anxiety you feel. It’s OK to feel that way. But it is not OK to let those feelings come between you and your health.

There are many advantages to coming to see us every 3-6 months: your mouth will stay fresh, your teeth will look great, and you will be able to confidently say that nothing is amiss in your mouth. By contrast, when you stay away too long, anything can happen: gum disease, tooth decay, chronic bad breath, and even oral cancer. Trust us, these can be unpleasant and costly messes to clean up.

That’s why, today, we want to talk about how Dr. Whatley can get you back in the dentist chair for a routine cleaning and examination. We promise to go easy on you. And we’ll take it one slow step at a time.

Your Comfort Comes First

This is one place you belong. We want you to be comfortable with us and to feel at home in our office. To that end, we go to great lengths to provide a friendly and welcoming environment. Beyond that, we want to ensure that your visit will be pleasant and pain-free each and every time.

Dr. Whatley offers two kinds of sedation, and he is happy to set you up with whichever one makes the most sense for your current situation.

N2O

This is a milder, though faster-acting method of dental sedation. It is simple: you just breathe in through a mask, and you will inhale nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas).

Soon you will be overcome with a feeling of euphoria, and you will relax your fears enough to get the services you scheduled. Once we turn it off, you will be ready to go on with your day in a matter of minutes.

Oral Conscious Sedation

This is a stronger form of sedation dentistry, one that Dr. Whatley has much experience administering. Here’s how it works: an hour or so before your appointment, you will just need to take a pill containing anti-anxiety medication. Its effects can last for a few hours, even beyond your procedure, so be sure to have a ride lined-up for that day.
